This paper deals with the literature on land management and land-use changes In Spanish mountains since 1970 until 1990. Journals of Geography published by Spanish universities, transactions and monographs have been checked. Firstly, the temporal and spatial distribution of papers dealing with Spanish mountain is established; it is outstanding, on the one hand, the Increase of references during the eighties and, on the other, the fact that the Pyrenees have received the largest number of references. Secondly, the most common topics of the checked literature have been analyzed and grouped in eight great thematic blocks. Finally, the low scientific level -to author's mind- of a great part of present literature is pointed out.
